Cultural, Social and Economic Diversity in Africa with Emphasis on Angola: Contemporary Challenges and Perspectives.
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article analyzes Africa's cultural, social, and economic diversity, focusing on Angola, based on a documentary review and interviews and questionnaires conducted in Luena between February and June 2025. The research highlights the continent's historical and cultural richness, marked by multiple ethnicities, languages, and social practices, but also by the structural challenges of inequality, poverty, and economic dependence. The methodology adopted is qualitative, with a descriptive and interpretative focus, using semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis, as well as a review of previously evaluated bibliographies. The data collected highlight the prevalence of practices that favor the commodification of higher education to the detriment of scientific quality and academic ethics. In the Angolan case, the colonial legacy, the relevance of national languages, the cultural appreciation of expressions such as semba and the Sona script, as well as the search for economic diversification in the face of heavy dependence on oil, stand out. The results indicate that, although Angolan society has made progress in cultural and regional integration policies, barriers related to educational exclusion, gender inequality, and multidimensional poverty persist. The conclusion is that understanding the complexity of the Angolan and African realities requires a holistic approach, capable of articulating history, culture, and economics to promote sustainable and inclusive development.
