STRATEGIES FOR SPORTS PERFORMANCE AND SUSTAINABILITY IN SEA AND BEACH SPORTS IN CUBA
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study analyzes the development of Sea and Beach Sports in Cuba, addressing their technological, social, and cultural dimensions, as well as the challenges and opportunities they present for the future. Their impact on public health, tourism, and the country’s economic and social development is highlighted. The main goal is to expand the practice of these sports, increasing from the current three disciplines to 23 modalities, which would allow Cuba to be included in the international competitive calendar. This expansion aims to promote productive use of free time, strengthen national sports identity, and generate sustainable tourism offerings with economic impact. The proposal is based on a development strategy that leverages the country’s geographic conditions and human capital, both for leading and organizing the practice of these sports. It is presented as a pathway to foster human development in coastal communities and areas with tourism potential. The strategy will be implemented in four stages: diagnosis, general and sport-specific design, validation, and introduction and generalization. This comprehensive approach seeks to consolidate Sea and Beach Sports as a tool for social and economic transformation.
