UNDERSTANDING SOCIAL INEQUALITIES: CLASS, RACIAL AND GENDER ISSUES IN THE EDUCATIONAL FIELD AND CHILDHOOD STUDIES IN ANGOLA.
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article is part of a research project that aimed to analyze the perception of social inequalities regarding gender and education in Angola, focusing on racial inequalities and access to schooling for all genders in the early years of schooling. Social inequalities can be observed in the distribution and access to goods and services, and in the Angolan context, this is reflected in the fact that many individuals with talents and abilities are unable to demonstrate them due to the barriers imposed by the reality and social context in which they are inserted.
The article demonstrates that belonging to a lower social class often becomes an obstacle to visibility and the pursuit of opportunities, leading many people to give up trying. On the other hand, those who belong to higher social classes, especially privileged racial groups, have greater ease in accessing these opportunities due to the context in which they are inserted, which makes them more visible in society.
The research argues that reflecting on these inequalities is essential to deconstructing prejudiced practices related to racial differences, especially in childhood. To this end, a quantitative approach was used, including a bibliographic review of books and articles that address the topic of racial inequalities, with the aim of providing a better understanding and critical analysis of this problem in Angolan society.
