Abstract

This study aims to analyze parental attitudes in their relationships with their adolescent children (parents, children, education, and behavior).

Its theoretical framework was based on attitude theories focused on parents and attitude theories focused on relationships. A qualitative approach was used in this study. Ten participants spoke about parental attitudes toward their fathers, children, education, and behavior.

An unstructured interview was conducted with the subjects, and the data were subjected to content analysis (Nvivo 10). We performed open, line, axial, selective, and thematic coding, and constructed a conceptual map based on the excerpt from (S1) from the perspective of Grounded Theory. Analysis of the results shows that the relationship between parents and children depends on the education parents provide to their children. Based on the results, it is easy to recognize how parents' behavior influences their children's behavior and the relationship between the two. It was concluded that this study represents a modest contribution to research on parental attitudes, given that, to date, there has been much research related to this topic in our country. Through the development of this article, it was possible to highlight how parental attitudes influence their children's relationships, both positively and negatively. On the one hand, parents positively influence a good relationship with their children, serving as role models for them.
